The IDET
2005 International Exhibition of Defense and Security Technologies
will take place from 3rd to 5th May 2005. The captains of
the Czech defense industry together with the largest world
defense and security technology manufacturers will gather
again at the Brno Exhibition Center. One of them, the American
giant Lockheed Martin, returns to IDET after a six-year
pause. In 1999, it participated in the exhibition mainly
because of a tender for the supply of new fighter planes
for the Czech Army Air Force. It has not announced participation
in any tender this year. "That is why we understand
Lockheed Martin's presence as a re-affirmation of what IDET
means as part of the European market in general", says
the exhibition project manager Karel Torn.
In the last few years, IDET has become an event of an increasingly
international nature. Foreign exhibitors will occupy large
exhibition space again. The largest portion thus far has
been ordered by the Israeli firm Rafael, followed by the
Polish company BUMAR, British BAE Systems, German DIEHL
VA, American AM General, and the top six is closed by the
Swedish company Ericsson Microwave Systems. To this date,
collective foreign participations have been announced from
these countries: Germany, France, UK, Italy, Slovakia and
Poland.
The Army of the Czech Republic is preparing its largest
presentation in the whole history of this exhibition. "The
display of the Czech defense branch is situated into Hall
Z – the largest hall of the entire Brno Exhibition
Center. Adjacent areas will be used for technology and equipment
presentations, both static and dynamic, on a total area
of about 5 acres. The Army hall shall be dominated by an
aerial system of the Vera passive radar system,“ says
Ing. Jirí Matejovic, chairman of the defense branch
preparatory committee.
A new Tatra vehicle and a new middle-size off-road automobile
that should replace the famed Praga V3S in the Czech Army's
rolling stock will be presented at the exhibition. Additional
interesting exhibits will feature unique mobile water treatment
equipment from the company Tesla Hloubetín, and the
products "biovak" and "biobox" from
the company EGO Zlín, which serve for the protection
against the spreading highly contagious diseases and can
be used also in the fight against terrorism.
